Former Nasu Canal intake facility
The Nasu Canal was opened in 1885 as a project directly managed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, and is counted among Japan's three largest canals. The water intake facilities that remain today were built in 1928. It is a symbol of the development of Nasunohara, and was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 2006 as a valuable legacy of modern civil engineering and construction.
