Leaf Fossil Garden
Numerous fossils from salt flats, as well as fossils and minerals collected from around the world, are on display.
Many fossils have been discovered in the Shiobara Lake Sediments, which were deposited in the Shiobara Fossil Lake (Palaeo-Shiobara Lake), located near the present-day Shiobara hot springs town, during the middle of the Quaternary Pleistocene, hundreds of thousands of years ago. The Konoha Fossil Garden is a facility that investigates, preserves, and exhibits these fossils. An astounding 220 species of plant and animal fossils have been excavated.
