The remains of a post town nestled in the mountains at an altitude of 1,100m upstream of the Naka River
In 1683, the Aizu Nishi Kaido road was cut off due to a natural disaster, so in 1695, the Aizu clan opened a new Aizu Naka Kaido road connecting Aizu and Ujiie, and established Nogizashinden-juku on the north side of the O-toge Pass on the border, and Mitogoya-juku on the south side.
