Shinyu Onsen Shrine

A historic shrine that is said to have been founded in the first year of the Daido era (806)

Of the eight hot spring shrines in Shiobara, this is the oldest, having been relocated from Motoyu, the origin of Shiobara Hot Springs, during the Edo period. It was designated a tangible cultural property of the city in 1993, and the stone pillars within the shrine are also designated as tangible cultural properties of the prefecture, making them extremely valuable cultural assets.
