Oyama Memorial Hall Western-style Building

The Oyama Memorial Hall consists of two villas, one Japanese-style and the other Western-style, built on the Oyama Farm, which was established by Meiji statesman and statesman, Oyama Iwao. Oyama opened the Kajiya Reclamation Field with his cousin, Saigo Tsunemichi, in 1881, and the two divided the land to form Oyama Farm in 1901. Shortly after the establishment of Oyama Farm, a Japanese-style villa was built on the farm office grounds. Later, a simple yet stately Western-style building was constructed adjacent to the Japanese-style building, connected by a corridor, using bricks fired on the farm. The Western-style building was designated a Tochigi Prefecture Tangible Cultural Property in 1995. For tours, please contact Nasu Takuyo High School (0287-36-1225).
