Frontline Farm Tour: Learning about wildlife damage to "Shiobara Highland Radishes" and experiencing the hardships of producers - 2-day stay at Shiobara Onsen
In late October, as the autumn leaves begin to change color, we will be holding a “Frontline Farm Tour” in the Shiobara Onsen area of Nasushiobara City, where you can get to know “food” and “local producers” more closely 🍁✨
This time, the theme is “Shiobara Highland Radish,” grown in the highland area of Shiobara.
We’ll actually visit the farm, hear from the producers about measures to prevent damage from wild animals, cultivation techniques, and the unique challenges of farming in this region, and finally, we’ll get to experience harvesting radishes and take two radishes home as a souvenir! ✨
▶For lunch, head to “Aozora Shokudo Hanare,” where you can enjoy warm, home-style cooking prepared by local mothers. Enjoy a time of interaction with other participants while sharing dishes made with seasonal Shiobara Plateau radishes.
▶Your accommodation will be at Kamiaizuya , a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) in Shiobara Onsen, nestled along the Hokigawa River. This quiet inn offers stunning riverside views, abundant hot spring water from its own source, and kaiseki (traditional multi-course) cuisine featuring seasonal delicacies.
